Difference between Router and Mesh System – What is better for you?

Home or corporate WiFi network seems simple yet very complex product. If we don’t get enough signals, its nearly impossible to operate many of the modern devices including our WiFi cams, and IoT (Internet of Things) products. Here you will get basic understanding of each product to make you the right decision.

What does it mean for Mesh WiFi?

Mesh WiFi are cluster of one or more routers (node) that can talk to each other in their dedicated frequency which is separated form our device frequency. Out of this cluster, one of the the node is primary node that work as your primary router and connect to the main entry of your home internet.

Opposite to traditional router which use to connect each independent device, mesh primary node will connect to the other nodes in the same network and provide enough frequency to each of them if they are all connected within a range and then each user device will get the frequency from the nearest available node who can serve better.

Mesh vs Router - Which is Better?

It is purely up to the user based on their use of devices. If User is looking to hard wire their equipment to connect to an internet, it better to use Router or WiFi switch connected to it to give ample ethernet ports.

If the application for use mostly on WiFi devices with large living area house, Mesh system will work better where instead of managing multiple router network we can have one single network with enough coverage for each device.

Price Comparison

As router is just a single node the price for Router are observed little less than the modern Mesh 3 nodes systems. However, there have been observed that modern gaming router are even more expensive than standard Mesh System.

As Mesh System is having multiple nodes, the price are little expensive for some branded system. Mesh system comes with flexibility to use only single node at the beginning and as per the need user can have additional compatible nodes added to it which can help reducing cost at the beginning immediately for the same application.
